About
2001: Graduated with honours in Civil Engineering from Dept. Structural Mechanics at University of Pavia, Italy. The graduation thesis was developed within the scope of FP5 EU research project CHIME and with the collaboration of CNR-IDPA Milan and University of Cairo, Egypt
2001-03: Research assistant at the John Blume Earthquake Engineering Center at Stanford University, in California USA where she concurrently attained a Master in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During the period abroad, she collaborated on the NSF funded project WiMMS under Prof. Kiremidjian and focused on the development of a technologically advanced distributed wireless monitoring system
2002: Attainment of PE title
2003-05: Teaching assistant at University of Pavia for the course of Strength of Materials and concurrent research grant attained for research activities related to experimental testing on innovative semi-active devices for structural protection
2005: Completion of a full-scholarship PhD awarded in Civil Engineering on the topic of structural health monitoring for system identification, damage assessment and prognosis under the supervision of the director of the ELSA Laboratory EU Joint Research Centre in Ispra. During the remainder of 2005, research grant attained for the experimental testing and thermal characterisation of Shape Memory Alloy devices in support of the EU fundedFP6 project WIND-CHIME. Also during this period, she participated to COST Action E24, Reliability Analysis of Timber Structures
2006: Winner of faculty position as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Architecture of University of Catania. Responsible for teaching of courses in Structural and Solid Mechanics and advisor of several theses
From 2006: Recipient and responsible of Athenaeum Funds, PRA. From 2007: Participant as an invited expert to COST Action TU0601 on Structural Robustness. Team member of one of the research unit funded under PRIN2008, projects of relevant national interest
From 2010: Member of the Ph.D. commission in Planning and Design of Territory and Landscape
